Russia commented on EU decision on partial ban on oil supplies

After the EU leaders agreement to introduce a partial ban on imports of Russian oil, the Russian Federation will find other buyers of its raw materials – as stated by the Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the International Organisations in Vienna, Mikhail Ulyanov, RIA Novosti reports

Earlier, the European Council President, Charles Michel, said that – following the results of the first day of a summit in Brussels – the EU leaders had agreed to introduce a partial ban on oil supplies from Russia and, accordingly, unblocked the approval of the sixth package of sanctions against the Russian Federation. Restrictions will affect two-thirds of oil imports from Russia, and – as noted by the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen – Brussels will actually reduce imports of Russian oil by 90 percent by late 2022.

"As she [Ursula von der Leyen] correctly said yesterday, Russia will find other importers. It should be noted that she now contradicts her previous statements. Such a rapid change in the way of thinking demonstrates that the European Union is not in good shape," Mr. Ulyanov said.

The sixth package of sanctions against the Russian Federation has yet to undergo the procedure of official approval. To accept restrictions, the consent of all EU members is required.
