Rural landscapes inspire artists
The Image of Motherland in Fine Arts international open-air workshop – devoted to the Year of National Unity – is in full swing until September 9th
The artistic project has brought together twenty painters from Belarus, Moldova, Uzbekistan and Egypt – enabling them not only to create new pieces but also get acquainted with the Mogilev Region.
By now, the artists have already visited Alexandria of the Shklov District and the famous Rodina [Motherland] Kolkhoz farm in the Belynichi District, also attending master classes there.
“It’s yet too early to say what will be depicted on canvas. After visiting a memorial complex in the village of Borki, some might create a philosophical work, while others will probably paint its landscapes,” Galina Konova, an artist from Mogilev, smiles.
Among the participants is also a guest from Moldova: Vyacheslav Ignatenko. He was born in Belarus but has never before attended such an open-air event. “I usually visit my small homeland every year. This time, I’ve combined my trip with a creative meeting of like-minded people. I mostly paint village landscapes and, for example, one of my works features a small house with stile strips which I once saw in the Mogilev District, while another – entitled Night Flight – depicts the Dnieper River. The latter resembles a tree, from which the Maryanka and Ulyanka rivers branch off. I’ll present my works at a final exhibition in Mogilev and will also take small sketches to Moldova for further work,” the man comments.
Winners of the open-air workshop will be announced on September 8th at Mogilev’s P.V. Maslenikov Art Museum, during a grand opening of the exhibition. In November-December, the exposition will be presented in Bobruisk and Minsk.
