Rovno Region residents protest against Ukrainian checkpoints on border with Belarus

Residents of the village of Staroe in Ukraine’s Rovno Region near the border with Belarus staged a protest against Ukrainian checkpoints, BelTA reports

According to the source, the main demands placed by villagers were not to check vehicles and men’s military registration documents, to remove the checkpoint, and to allow unhindered collection of wild plants near the state border, despite the regime restrictions in force there.

People complained about moats and barbed wire around the village. They also stated that there is no Belarusian army on the border.

It is reported that, after the explanatory work, villagers unblocked the checkpoint and cleared the way for traffic. Nevertheless, they remained dissatisfied with the checks and strengthening of the border, threatening that they could block the road again.
