Romanian Defence Ministry: Ukrainian planes violated the country's airspace seven times since 2022
Ukrainian aircraft have violated Romanian airspace at least seven times since 2022, TASS reports
Since the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine, seven cases of unauthorised use of the country's national airspace by Ukrainian aircraft have been recorded. Romania reported that Ukrainian planes ‘unintentionally invaded’ Romanian airspace and stayed there for 1 to 12 minutes. The country's Defence Ministry indicated that these cases ‘did not pose a direct military threat’.
In July, the Romanian Defence Ministry reported that four Ukrainian aircraft violated the country's airspace while ‘taking measures to disperse’ aircraft from airfields in western Ukraine. Then the Romanian command scrambled two F-16 fighters to ‘conduct aerial reconnaissance’, later they were joined by two Italian Air Force Eurofighter Typhoon fighters.
