Referendum polling stations ready in Belarus
The formation of polling stations is being completed in Belarus today – as informed by the Chairman of the Central Commission on Elections and Holding Republican Referenda, Igor Karpenko, BelTA reports
“153 territorial commissions have been created, and formation of polling stations is planned to complete today. Tomorrow we will know their exact number. If to look back to the 2020 Presidential elections, 5,723 stations were organised countrywide then,” Mr. Karpenko said, adding that precinct electoral commissions are scheduled to be ready no later than February 6th.
On January 20th, the President of Belarus signed the Decree On Calling the Nationwide Referendum. The main voting day is February 27th. It will also be possible to cast votes regarding the amendments and additions to the country’s Basic Law ahead of schedule: February 22nd through February 26th.
