‘Referendum is a big step towards our country’s development’
“The referendum is certainly an important event for our state. The world is changing, and we must have time to respond to changes, including by correcting laws,” Maksim Sytsevich, a member of the Youth Parliament under the National Assembly of Belarus, a teacher at the Brest State College of Communications, shared his opinion.
The young parliamentarian noted that for him, as a representative of the younger generation, it is important that the draft Constitution of the Republic of Belarus pays great attention to the rights and opportunities of young people. He believes this is relevant, because it is the younger generation that forms the happy future of any state via its actions. Meanwhile, the consolidation of guarantees for young people at the legislative level will make it possible for any young person in our country to realise their potential.
Maksim Sytsevich underlined, “It is also important to preserve the historical memory of our state. I believe that the duty of every person is to know and preserve the history of their people and family, to pass it on to their children and grandchildren. The question of the family is also relevant, because this is the most important and close thing that a person has. The state is doing a lot to promote harmonious families and healthy atmosphere inside these families. Strengthening at the level of law the equal rights of all family members, the obligation to take care of children and to introduce them into society is a movement towards a healthy and happy future for our families and the entire state.”
According to the young man, the consolidation of the status of the Belarusian People’s Congress as the highest representative body of the rule of people will enable the nation to make decisions in various directions of society’s development.
“The referendum and the adoption of the draft Constitution of the Republic of Belarus is a big step towards the development of our country across different areas. A lot depends on everyone’s decision. I will definitely go to vote in the referendum. My vote is for a strong, independent, and prosperous Belarus,” stated Maksim Sytsevich.
