In particular, the President of Russia stressed that today some results of the work of the two countries’ governments and various departments, primarily in the economic sphere, will be summed up, “It should be underlined that Belarus is not only our good neighbour, with whom we have been working, taking into account each other’s interests over the past decades. Belarus is our ally in the truest sense of the word. Therefore, we tried [to settle] and settled all other issues, including in the economic sphere, based on these data.”

The Russian leader also confirmed the thesis, voiced by Aleksandr Lukashenko, that the economy is now a priority, “Back in 2021, we made a very good breakthrough in the development of trade-economic ties. I’d like to underline that, in 2021, our trade turnover, even before the events within the framework of the special military operation, increased by a third and reached $38.5bn. This is a very good and significant indicator. Meanwhile, over ten months of this year, it has grown by another 10 percent compared to the previous year. If last year we had a record, there are reasons to believe that this year we will have a new record. Most likely, we will reach the bar of $40bn.”
