Putin explained why he invited Lukashenko to working breakfast

Russian President Vladimir Putin has invited Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko to a working breakfast at the Russian Museum to discuss bilateral relations and other serious issues, BelTA reports

Vladimir Putin noted that he had had an opportunity to talk with his Belarusian counterpart also in the evening of December 26th at the informal CIS summit and in the morning of December 27th. "In such an informal atmosphere, we will continue our communication in wonderful interiors [the meeting is taking place at the Russian Museum – BelTA’s remark],” he said. “We agreed that 2023 will be celebrated as the Year of the Russian Language, so having a working breakfast at the Russian Museum seems to be the best choice. The atmosphere here is good to discuss serious matters, including with focus on our bilateral relations. Although we are in constant contact, the life daily gives us a reason to discuss some issues and make the necessary decisions so that they are resolved more effectively."

As noted by Vladimir Putin, the two states’ governments work quite hard, and their heads report to the presidents on the progress of negotiations on various issues. “We have a lot to talk about. I am very glad that, on the side-lines of this informal meeting, the two of us can meet again and discuss the matters of mutual interest," he added.
