Putin, Erdogan discuss situation in Ukraine by phone

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan spoke by phone with Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin about bilateral relations, the situation in Ukraine and the Syrian crisis – as stated in the office of the Turkish leader, RIA Novosti reports

The office noted, “During the talks, relations between Türkiye and Russia were discussed, especially power engineering, as well as regional issues.”

Moreover, according to the office, the two presidents touched on the Russian-Ukrainian issues and the Syrian crisis. In particular, Tayyip Erdogan proposed taking concrete steps to clear the terrorist organisation PKK/PYD/YPG (the Kurdistan Workers’ Party banned in Türkiye) from the Turkish border regions, especially from the Syrian Tal Rifaat and Manbij. According to the Turkish Head of State, the regime must be constructive and take certain steps in the political process to achieve concrete results in Syria.”
