Putin conveyed greeting to participants of 17th Verona Eurasian Economic Forum in Ras Al Khaimah
There is a growing demand in the world to transform the system of international economic relations in favour of the majority – as stated in the greeting of the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, to the participants of the 17th Verona Eurasian Economic Forum, which was read out by Rosneft CEO Igor Sechin
“The geography of the forum, which brings together representatives of government departments, big businesses, scientists and experts, continues to expand. This year, the event is for the first time organised in the United Arab Emirates, in its ancient and beautiful city of Ras Al Khaimah. The theme of the current forum — New Co-operation Architecture for Contemporary Economy – fully reflects the growing demand for the transformation of the system of international economic relations in the interests of the world majority," Vladimir Putin noted.
The President of Russia stressed that the outdated model, which gives unilateral advantages to a small group of countries, should be replaced by a new one based on genuine equality, justice, consideration of each other's legitimate interests, excluding any forms of discrimination, dictate and sanctions pressure.
“These are the principles of co-operation that underlie the activities of BRICS, which summit was recently held in the Russian Federation. We are pleased to note that an increasing number of the members of the world community, including our neighbours on the Eurasian continent, are in favour of approving these principles at the global level,” the Russian leader’s greeting read.
Vladimir Putin expressed hope that the initiatives put forward at the forum will serve to expand multifaceted co-operation between the countries and peoples of Eurasia.
The Verona Eurasian Economic Forum is a platform that traditionally brings together politicians, experts, diplomats, heads of major companies and journalists from the West and the East. It was hosted by Italian Verona for fourteen years – even at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, geopolitical realities forced the organisers to change the traditional venue. In 2022, the forum was for the first time held outside Italy: in the capital of Azerbaijan, Baku. Later, it was hosted by Uzbek Samarkand. This year, the organisers — the Italian non-profit Conoscere Eurasia Association, the Roscongress Foundation and the UAE Chamber of Commerce and Industry – have chosen the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah as the venue.
The agenda of the forum – that is taking place on December 5th-6th – includes sessions on a wide range of global topics – such as the development of energy, infrastructure, transport, finance, digitalisation, and medicine. General issues will cover the development of business dialogue and effective ways of co-operation between countries and organisations in the territory of Greater Eurasia.
