Public discussion enables everyone to shape Belarus’ future

Nationwide discussion is an opportunity for everyone to take part in shaping the future of Belarus, believes the Chairman of the Youth Council (Parliament) at the National Assembly, Yegor Makarevich

Mr. Makarevich considers the proposed innovations are progressive in nature and are aimed at making our state stronger and the political system more stable.

“Belarus’ draft Constitution has been developed for almost a year. Importantly, it has been created under close attention of the Head of State. The President also made his own proposals. All changes proposed at this stage were actively posted by the media and social networks. They were promoted by ordinary citizens who shared them on meeting members of the Constitutional Commission and on discussion platforms. With this in view, we can assert with confidence: this is a people's project,” he stressed.

According to Mr. Makarevich, the draft Basic Law enshrines preservation of historical and moral origins of Belarusian people, and also a socially oriented course of Belarus’ development. This means that – in difficult economic conditions – our country will continue rendering support to various categories of citizens, also providing targeted assistance to those in need.

“It is important that the youth participates in the nationwide discussion of amendments to the Constitution,” the Constitutional Commission’s member noted. “After all, these are young people who will have to take over the baton from the older generation and do everything possible for Belarus to develop as a strong sovereign state. Anyone can send their proposals to social network accounts of the Youth Parliament at the National Assembly, or via a special form on www.mpns.by.
