Prospects of training Iraqi citizens in medical specialities in Belarus discussed at BSMU

The management of the Belarusian State Medical University (BSMU) and representatives of Iraq’s diplomatic circles discussed the prospects for more active involvement of citizens of this Middle Eastern state in obtaining specialised education in Belarus’ leading medical university, the BSMU press service reports

“BSMU was visited by Charge d’Affaires of Iraq to Russia Khalil Abud Alrdh Mheisin Aladly, second secretaries of the Iraqi Embassy in Russia Bilal Talal Hamad Al-Jawadi and Majid Taher Hussein, as well as an employee of the Iraqi diplomatic mission in Moscow Hussam Albegli,” university spokesperson Oksana Kurbeko noted. “The talks with the diplomats were held by BSMU Rector Sergei Rubnikovich and Vice Rector for International Relations Vasily Rudenok.”

Khalil Abud Alrdh Mheisin Aladly reminded that Belarus and Iraq have long had friendly relations, despite the fact that there is no diplomatic representation of this country in Minsk, “Many Iraqi citizens study in various universities of Belarus, including medical ones. This is due to the fact that your system of higher education is famous for its quality. I would like the number of students from Iraq in Belarusian institutions of higher education to increase. I hope that in the near future this will happen, and there will be many more of my compatriots at the Belarusian State Medical University.”

According to the Charge d’Affaires of Iraq to Russia, BSMU and Iraqi higher educational institutions can liaise in such areas as the exchange of teachers and students, the organisation and holding of joint conferences, seminars, and other events. In addition, there is an opportunity to co-operate in the scientific field.

The guests were also interested in how things are going with the students from Iraq, who are being trained at the Medical Faculty for International Students in various specialities. They were pleased to hear that their compatriots are diligent and participate in the life of the faculty and the university. The diplomats expressed confidence that these young people will become good doctors who will bring significant benefit to their country.
