The man said that, after the draft, he was sent to train in the UK. He spent there three weeks – learning how to shoot, take trenches by storm and provide medical aid. After completing the course, a group of Ukrainian soldiers, including Artem Kovalenko, underwent combat co-ordination in Zhitomir.

"After that, we went to the Volyn Region to patrol in the village of Zabolotye, and later moved to Svyatogorsk. We lived at a tourist base there for four days, and after that we left for the positions – to stay there for a month before captivity. Our task was to hold the defence. We were captured on December 1st. We were bypassed, and our positions were stormed. We surrendered after twenty minutes of the battle," the prisoner of war said.

As previously reported, the UK has already trained ten thousand Ukrainian military and is going to train another 40,000 this year. Russia has repeatedly stated the inadmissibility of this and also the supply of weapons to Kiev.
