Pressure mounting in Argentina to impeach Milei over cryptocurrency scandal

The Argentinean opposition wants the impeachment of the country’s President Javier Milei after his publication about cryptocurrency, RIA Novosti reports

“Milei’s involvement in the offence of cryptocurrency fraud is extremely serious. This is an unprecedented scandal. A bloc of MPs decided to submit a proposal to impeach the president,” the Homeland Union party wrote on social network X.

Earlier, Milei published information about one of the cryptocurrencies on social media, which led to an increase in its value, which later fell. The publication provoked criticism against Milei because, as the Perfil newspaper notes, many people decided to invest in the currency and ended up losing money.

The Argentinean leader later deleted the post, adding that he was not familiar with the details of the project and therefore decided not to further spread information about it.
