Press centre to open near temporary accommodation centre for refugees

A press centre will open near the transport and logistics centre where refugees are temporary accommodated – as announced by Belarus’ First Deputy Information Minister, Andrei Kuntsevich, BelTA reports

The media pays special attention to the situation with refugees on the border. Journalists from Belarus and abroad work day and night at the centre where about 1,800 refugees stay at the moment.

"The Information Ministry, jointly with the Foreign Ministry, the State Border Committee and the Grodno Regional Executive Committee, will continue to support and facilitate journalists’ work aimed at full and comprehensive coverage of the situation on the Belarusian-Polish border. With this in view, we plan to open a press centre on the site. Working places will be available for media representatives, and specialists will be all time present there to help journalists if needed,” Mr. Kuntsevich said. Army equipment will also be used to organise the press centre’s work.

Apart from the Belarusian media, more than 60 representatives of foreign media from nine countries have been accredited to cover the situation on the border.
