President supported establishment of Ministry of Digital Development and Communications
Belarus’ Minister of Communications and Informatisation, Konstantin Shulgan, has informed on this decision following the Head of State’s meeting with the leadership of the Council of Ministers which discussed, among other issues, a draft decree on the creation of a new state body on the basis of the Ministry of Communications and Informatisation: the Ministry of Digital Development and Communications
In general, the document has received the President’s approval, and it is now needed to finalise some points.
Mr. Shulgan noted that the discussion was lively and active. “The issue is important for development of the whole country since it concerns all spheres of the economy and citizens’ social life. The Head of State emphasised that the decree should envisage the norms that would produce tangible changes for the better for citizens and the economy,” he said.
The Minister added that the new state body is being created on the basis of the Ministry of Communications and Informatisation. Mr. Shulgan noted that he was pleased with the meeting results since the process of the ministry establishment is literally ‘at the finish line’.
“It is not the decree which is the key but the work done on the basis of its provisions. The Head of State stressed it is necessary to ensure that the decree works well; all is being done not for show. The additional functions which the new ministry undertakes must be fulfilled, and its results are to be experienced by everyone – in industry, agriculture, and the social sphere,” Mr. Shulgan said.
