Preparations for celebration of 80th anniversary of Victory in Great Patriotic War discussed with Belarus’ PM participation
The Belarusian Government aims to hold high-level events to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War – as stated by Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko at today’s meeting of the republican organising committee for the preparation and celebration of the forthcoming date
“We worked hard last year and held a set of events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Belarus’ liberation from the Nazi invaders at a decent level. They all were organised at a high ideological and political level, and caused a positive public response among the citizens of our country and foreign guests," the Prime Minister said.
According to Mr. Golovchenko, the committee has now approached the implementation of certain tasks. “We aim to hold events at the same high level to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War. Preparations are already underway, and a range of activities are being implemented in line with the schedule. This concerns perpetuating the memory of the Fatherland defenders, military memorial and search work, restoration of monuments,” he explained.
The PM stressed that special attention is being paid to caring for veterans and those affected by the consequences of the war, “In healthcare organisations, work is underway on therapeutic and diagnostic measures within the framework of comprehensive medical examinations. The Healthcare Minister will report on this in more detail.”
In addition, according to Mr. Golovchenko, the committee needs to discuss the issues of holding events on May 9th, 2025. “The President has set the task to hold a significant event at the Minsk International Exhibition Centre – along with traditional events such as a solemn meeting, a concert, and a parade,” he noted. “This will be an exhibition dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory and the achievements of the modern Belarusian defence industry – to demonstrate the republic’s continuity in this matter. The Defence Ministry, the Culture Ministry and the State Authority for Military Industry have submitted certain proposals for organising this event, but they cannot be fully described as a concept. Therefore, we plan to discuss the main approaches and clarify the tasks.”
