In his speech, the Belarusian PM noted that practical issues related to various spheres of the economy and citizens’ life are now taking an increasing focus on the EAEU agenda, “Among them I’d like to highlight the approval of a list of exemptions and restrictions on the domestic market that are subject to elimination in 2021-2022. Fulfilling the obligations envisaged by this document is an important step towards building a common market. Another important issue on the agenda is a roadmap for the implementation of the main directions and stages of the EAEU co-ordinated transport policy. As a major food exporter, Belarus believes the work dealing with formation of a common EAEU market for organic agricultural products is timely.”

Mr. Golovchenko also addressed the EAEU member states to consolidate their efforts to complete the work on draft agreements envisaging the formation of common oil and gas markets in due time. He believes ‘moving forward should rely on a solid foundation of internal resources and capabilities’.

In turn, the Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission, Mikhail Myasnikovich, said the EAEU states need to create a single import substitution programme and enjoy a co-ordinated export policy, “The EAEU foreign trade has increased by 24 percent but we believe it’s not enough. We should pursue a co-ordinated export policy so that not to create competition to each other in the markets of third countries.”
