The survey data also shows that the number of such Americans increased by 12 percentage points in just a year.

The indicator was the highest in 22 years of observations and is reportedly associated with inflation in the United States, which reached a record level for more than 40 years last year.

Among certain groups of the population prone to refusing treatment, sociologists named people with low incomes, adults from 18 to 49 years old and women.

The survey was conducted from November 9th to December 2nd last year, covering 1,020 American adults across all fifty states and the District of Columbia. The error in the results is about four percentage points.
