Politico: Ukraine upset by plans of UK’s new PM
Ukraine is dissatisfied with the plan of the new British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, who decided to cut the country's military budget – as stated by a Politico source in the Ukrainian government, RIA Novosti reports
“Mr. Sunak said practically nothing about the defence of Europe, except that the national defence budget will be reduced [compared to Liz Truss' long-term plans – RIA Novosti’s remark],” the source said.
As noted by Politico, in his first address to the nation, Mr. Sunak promised to put economic stability at the centre of his new government's agenda and announced difficult spending decisions ahead.
According to the publication, in an attempt to calm the Kiev government, which is still pining for its departed ally Boris Johnson, Mr. Sunak guaranteed the support of the British armed forces and said that the conflict in Ukraine would be brought to an end.
