"The man stated that he was a serviceman of the 11th Masurian Artillery Regiment of the 16th Pomeranian Mechanised Division named after King Cazimir. Its units were deployed to ensure protection of the border with Belarus during the state of emergency on the border territories of Poland," the State Border Committee reported.

It was added that the soldier asked for political asylum in Belarus due his disagreement with Poland's policy regarding the migration crisis and inhumane treatment of refugees.
