Polish opposition leaders demand immediate ban on Ukrainian imports

The Law and Justice Party (PiS), Poland's leading opposition party, demands that the country's new authorities impose an immediate ban on imports of Ukrainian agricultural products, TASS reports

The Chairman of the PiS Parliamentary Club and former Defence Minister of Poland, Mariusz Blaszczak, stated, “We demand from the government and [Prime Minister] Donald Tusk, so that today [February 19th, 2024] an order is issued to impose an embargo on agricultural products imported from Ukraine.”

Earlier, Polish farmers demanded to temporarily close the border with Ukraine due to uncontrolled imports of agricultural products from this country as they met with Agriculture Minister Czeslaw Szekerski. The Polish Agriculture Ministry is currently negotiating the possibility of imposing a ban on imports of certain categories of goods with the Ukrainian authorities, taking into account the current situation on the Polish market.
