Poland said refusal to extend Ukrainian grain export ban would be a mistake

The refusal of the European Commission to extend the ban on the export of Ukrainian agricultural products will be a serious mistake – as noted by Polish Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Robert Telus, TASS reports

As the Polish minister explained, he ‘would not like a political war with the EC’, but ‘alarming information’ came from Brussels that the ban on the export of Ukrainian grain could be lifted.

According to Telus, in this case, Poland will be forced to take ‘improving measures to help Polish peasants’, though he did not say what particular measures were involved.

From May 2nd, by European Commission decision, there is a temporary ban on the supply of Ukrainian wheat, corn, sunflower seeds and rapeseed to Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Slovakia. These countries have cancelled unilaterally imposed restrictions on the import of Ukrainian agricultural products. The ban expires on June 5th.
