Poland plans to become one of NATO leaders in defence spending in 2023

Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said that next year Poland should have one of the highest defence budgets among NATO member states, TASS reports

Morawiecki said he hopes to see Poland in first place among NATO countries in terms of defence spending in 2023. In his opinion, the country should definitely enter the top three.

He also stressed that if Warsaw allocates about 4 percent of its annual economic output to defence, it will be approximately at the US level in this indicator.

According to data from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), last year, Poland’s GDP was about $660bn. In the next year’s budget, the government allocated about $20.8bn for defence.
