Poland establishes new infantry division in the east of the country
The Polish authorities decided to form a new infantry division in the east of the country – as stated by Poland’s Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of National Defence Mariusz Błaszczak, RIA Novosti reports
According to the Polish Deputy PM, between the 16th mechanised division, which operates in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, and the 18th mechanised division, which operates mainly in the Masovian and Lublin voivodeships, the 1st legion infantry division will appear.
It is noted that it will operate on the territory of the Podlaskie Voivodeship and will consist of four brigades.
Błaszczak noted that the new division would be armed with Abrams tanks and South Korean K-2s. It will also include an artillery brigade armed with Poland-made Krab self-propelled howitzers and South Korean K-9 self-propelled howitzers. Moreover, the brigade will be armed with unmanned reconnaissance systems.
