Pilot operation of second power unit launched at BelNPP
The stage of pilot operation of the second power unit has been launched at the Belarusian nuclear power plant (BelNPP), with the corresponding permission issued by the Nuclear and Radiation Safety Department of the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry (Gosatomnadzor) – as reported by the Belarusian Energy Ministry in its Telegram channel
The department noted that the stage of pilot operation envisages a phased increase in the power of the power unit’s reactor system from 50 percent to 100 percent with a large number of tests of technological systems and equipment in different operating modes of the unit, including disconnection from the network.
In total, there will be more than 200 such tests. At present, the unit’s reactor power is being raised to 75 percent of the nominal one.
