Picket to collect signatures for nomination of Lukashenko as Presidential candidate held at firewood chopping championship
A picket was organised during the third firewood chopping championship held today near Minsk to collect signatures for the nomination of Aleksandr Lukashenko as a Presidential candidate. Journalists and guests of the competition were taking part in it all day long: the queue did not shorten until the very end of the championship.
Grigory Azarenok, a political commentator on the STV TV channel, was among those who came first to put their signatures. He noted that it is important for every citizen of the country to participate in the electoral process, and especially to vote in elections.
“Not much demand can be placed on those who do not come to the polls for the state of the country, for its future, present, and prosperity. These people simply stay aside, as of it is no concern of theirs. In turn, those who come, sign up, vote, those who work – as the President said – in their workplace for the good and future of our country are the ones who create, these are real citizens of Belarus,” the journalist said.
