Nikol Pashinyan stressed that the Alma Ata Declaration of 1991, the founding document of the Commonwealth of Independent States, became the key document in this process. "I would like to state with satisfaction that peace has been established between Armenia and Azerbaijan after many years of conflict," he said.
At the same time, the Prime Minister noted that the established peace does not mean a complete solution to all issues. According to him, the parties have yet to establish mutual trade, economic, political and cultural ties, as well as resolve humanitarian issues. “This is not an easy task, given the history of long-term hostility. However, the established peace gives us confidence that the issues will be gradually resolved,” he added.
Nikol Pashinyan also expressed gratitude to the Tajik side for the successful chairmanship of the CIS and the organisation of the high-level summit in Dushanbe.
