Over 490 organ transplant operations performed in Belarus in 2024
Belarus continues to expand its high-tech operations, with 492 organ transplants performed in 2024 – as noted by Belarus’ Healthcare Minister Aleksandr Khodzhaev during the ministry’s final board meeting
Last year, Belarus ranked 6th in the world in the number of kidney transplants per million population and 15th in the number of liver transplants per million population.
“One of the socially important high-tech types of medical care is endoprosthesis of large joints. In 2024, doctors performed 13,921 hip replacements and 7,415 knee replacements. Last year, the Republican Scientific and Practical Centre of Traumatology and Orthopaedics also began to perform shoulder replacement surgeries: 13 such operations were conducted during the year,” Mr. Khodzhaev added.
