Over 1m people likely to protest in France on March 7th

Analysts say protests against pension reform can gather up to 1.4m participants in France on general strike day of March 7th, BFM TV channel reports

It is noted that, during the last campaign of demonstrations held by trade unions on February 16th, 1.3m people took to the streets of France.

On March 7th, the authorities expect about 320 actions countrywide. According to analysts from the special services, 60-90 thousand people can take part in a march in Paris. In addition, a large number of demonstrators are expected at rallies in Nantes (32.5 thousand people), Toulouse and Lyon (30 thousand people each), as well as in Rennes, Marseille, Grenoble and Clermont-Ferrand (about 20 thousand people each).

Earlier, French Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne presented a draft pension reform, and the authorities will raise the retirement age by three months a year from September 1st, 2023. As a result, it will reach 64 by 2030.
