Over 100 thousand tourists visited Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve in 2024

Over 100 thousand tourists visited the Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve in 2024 compared to about 94.5 thousand holidaymakers a year earlier, the environmental agency said

“We’re happy that every year the number of tourists is increasing every year,” said Darya Rankovskaya, the Head of the Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve’s Department of Tourism, Environmental Education and Information Support.

“Since early 2025, about 8 thousand people have already visited the reserve. The most popular times are New Year’s Eve, the winter holidays and Maslenitsa. By the way, we finish the colourful winter farewell programme in March, so there is still time for those who want to see a real spring show.”

Last year was a busy year for the reserve, and the geography of holidaymakers was wide. Tourists from different parts of Belarus (especially from Minsk and the Minsk Region), Russia, Latvia, Uzbekistan, China, the UK and Egypt visited the Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve. It is curious that foreign guests more often choose routes and tours to the wild nature and enjoy watching the forest inhabitants.

Museums, a forest zoo, hiking tours, an animation programme — all tourist sites are in great demand, Ms. Rankovskaya continued, “There is something unusual and memorable in each of our excursions. Speaking of the Maslenitsa festivities, then this year their new highlight will be a tourist train ride from one of our tourist facilities to another. Soon we will equip the train, which seats 30 people, with a sound system for listening to the excursions.”

One of the most popular spring activities is the photo birding competition, which is scheduled just in time for spring. At the same time, the reserve’s rope park will be opened. In May, and earlier if the weather permits, canoe rafting, exciting trips along the Berezina River, the Serguchsky Canal, etc. will be on the tourist programme.

The Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve will not miss out on the latest novelties that will appeal to visitors. The reserve is currently developing a tourist route dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, Ms Rankovskaya added.
