Orban: US striving for peace in Ukraine, while EU eager to continue the war
The new American administration and the leadership of the European Union adhere to different approaches to the Ukrainian conflict: Washington is now in favour of a peaceful settlement, and Brussels is eager to continue the war – as stated by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, TASS reports
Answering questions about the situation in Ukraine in his talk with the Kossuth radio station, Viktor Orban said, “Europeans say that sanctions should be maintained and even strengthened in order for Ukrainians to win the war against Russia. The US Secretary of State [Marco Rubio] said in a long interview that it would be unfair to deceive everyone by claiming that Ukrainians can win this war. Well, we can thank him for this interview, because it showed that Americans want not sanctions, but peace, while Europeans want sanctions, rather than peace."
According to the Prime Minister of Hungary, ‘the European logic is completely different from the American one: one is the logic of war, and the other is the logic of peace’.
