Opinion: US is afraid of strong Europe

The United States needs a weak and split Europe, being afraid of a strong European Union – as noted by the Chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party of Belarus, a deputy of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly, Oleg Gaidukevich, in his talk with the ONT TV channel

According to the MP, the United States – by provoking conflicts in Europe – is getting rid of a competitor in the face of the European Union. “[EU Foreign Policy Chief Josep Borrell] does not defend the interests of Europe, and all his statements over the past year have been destroying the European Union. If Americans need a conflict, they will arrange it – purposely keeping this conflict smouldering. This is because a strong Europe is the worst outcome for the US: a Europe without splits could become a competitor for the United States. They do not need that,” he explained.

Mr. Gaidukevich believes the conflict in Ukraine was also provoked by the United States in order to weaken the European Union, “The US understands that Ukraine will never win in this conflict. What else do they have? These are Transnistria or Moldova. They can also play with Central Asia. Why does the United States need peace in Kosovo and Serbia? It actually produced this conflict. Who destroyed Yugoslavia? Who has control over Kosovo? Who forced the latter to be recognised, thus creating an international precedent? Who is financing all business corporations there? Who owns cellular communication in Kosovo? These are Americans. Everything belongs to them. Therefore, if they need it, they will generate [a conflict]. Meanwhile, if Europe were independent, if Germany wanted to be the leader of the European Union, they would have kicked out Americans by now, would have sat down at the negotiating table and agreed.”
