Opinion: there’s great risk of Poland's direct involvement into Russian-Ukrainian conflict

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that statements about ‘open doors’ are not enough, and Kiev expects more decisive steps from the North Atlantic Alliance. In his talk with Alfa Radio, a deputy of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly, Oleg Gaidukevich, commented on the Ukrainian leader’s words, noting that there is a risk of Warsaw's direct involvement into the hostilities in Ukraine at the instigation of Washington.

“Ukraine is virtually gone,” the MP believes. “There is only the US project, and [the country will disappear] without direct American help. If a valve is turned off, then Ukraine will die. Therefore, Kiev needs the aid to be constantly increased, also seeking to involve as many countries as possible in the war. Poland is on the verge. What is the risk? When Ukraine starts experiencing increasingly great losses, there might be an instruction: look, Ukraine fought to the last man, why not to fight to the last Pole? American soldiers will never die for Europe and Ukraine – only mercenaries or someone of the kind. Why should Americans fight directly?”

The MP believes the United States is trying to weaken Russia, including by fomenting conflicts in other regions. "It can spark a war in Kosovo and Serbia, instigate Transnistria, Armenia and Azerbaijan. It is trying to set fire to everything around Russia, but it must understand that all this is leading to its collapse. Such a development of events would result in the collapse and the end of all – and this is horrible. Everything must be done so that this never happens,” he added.

As for Belarus, it stands for peace – and all its steps pursue this goal. "Everything that the President is doing is aimed at peace. The stronger we are, the larger the [Belarusian-Russian military] group is, the more powerful our Armed Forces and special services are, the more modern weapons we have, the less likely it is that someone will attack us. Those who are strong are avoided. When an auroch is walking along the Belovezhskaya Pushcha, no other animal approaches it – since the former is strong. We should also be as strong as an auroch – moving forward with our heads high," Mr. Gaidukevich stressed.
