MP: destabilisation is favourite activity of Americans
If Americans fail to bring a fully loyal politician to power in Turkiye, they may begin to destabilise the country, but the present leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan has a wealth of experience and knows how to resist this – as stated by a deputy of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly, Sergei Klishevich, in his talk with Alfa Radio
Commenting on why the attention of the whole world is now focused on the presidential elections in Turkiye, the MP noted, “Of course, this is all connected with a geopolitical struggle that is now in full swing. It is clear that Turkiye is an active player and quite a tasty morsel in this fight. Many forces are now interested in this country being on one side or the other. We observe how Erdogan is trying to maintain neutrality, although Russia's positions mostly prevail in the political and diplomatic leadership of this state. Clearly, such a player can fundamentally turn the situation that is developing in this region, in terms of relations with Iran, Syria and other countries. It is a powerful political and military force. Turkiye is a NATO member, but at the same time it is very careful and cautious about the decisions of this organisation. It is building trusting diplomatic relations with Russia, and Americans definitely dislike this. They will do everything to ensure that if not an anti-Russian, then a pro-American politician comes to power in Turkiye. Moreover, we all remember a coup attempt that they planned and tried to carry out with the help of the country's religious leaders. They will not leave Turkiye in peace, and the same refers to Belarus. Despite the fact that, in 2020, Belarusians stood up to them, their pressure from other positions is still obvious.”
Mr. Klishevich also shared his views on the second round of the presidential elections in Turkiye, saying that American services and other interested parties will be involved in the process even more actively, “This issue may escalate into something more serious, including with the use of force in this country. We should take into account the mentality of the Turkish people and the pitfalls that are embedded in political traditions there. God forbid that another hot spot emerges there. Actually, many parties wish this to happen – if not to seize power, but at least to bring the country to a state where it will not be able to play any political role. This is what the US will strive for. Destabilisation is a favourite occupation of Americans. It is their joker, which they get when they fail to penetrate into the depths of solving political, electoral issues. At the same time, Erdogan is quite a serious figure in world politics, he thinks ahead about everything, including countermeasures.”
