On behalf of President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko, Chairman of the House of Representatives Igor Sergeyenko will travel to the Vatican to attend the funeral of Pope Francis, President’s Press Secretary Natalya Eismont told RIA Novosti, BelTA reports
According to the Pul Pervogo Telegram channel, the delegation will also include the Ambassador to the Holy See and the Charge d’affaires of Italy.
Earlier, Aleksandr Lukashenko sent a message of condolence on the death of the Pontiff, “It is with great sadness that Belarus learned of the passing of His Holiness Pope Francis. His many years of service to Christ were filled with love for the flock, for all people and for the whole world. As a true humanist and defender of the interests of the common man, the Pope has made an invaluable contribution to ensuring social equality and justice. The Pope’s work has become a testimony to his deep faith, wisdom and humanism.”
