According to the nutritionist, foods that are beneficial to the nervous system can be divided into four groups:

1. High in magnesium: pumpkin and sunflower seeds, wheat bran, peanuts, hazelnuts, buckwheat, sea cabbage, sesame seeds, bananas, chicken eggs, beans, spinach, oat flakes, walnuts, mint, and cocoa.

2. High in omega-3 fatty acids: mackerel, salmon, tuna, sardines, halibut, trout, shrimp, oysters, herring, chia and flax seeds, walnuts, black and red caviar.

3. High in B vitamins: liver, peas, peanuts, chicken egg, beans, hazelnuts, pistachios, oatmeal, walnuts, chicken, corn, barley, spinach, cauliflower, broccoli, whole grain bread, almonds, potatoes, carrots, and sweet peppers.

4. High in antioxidants: blueberries, blackberries, bilberries, grapes, prunes, cranberries, lentils, strawberries, apples, nuts, cherries, plums, pears, pomegranates, avocados, citrus fruits, and bell peppers.

"The top foods that adversely affect the nervous system include alcohol, sweets, trans fats (chips, French fries, frozen convenience and fried foods, as well as popcorn), and energy drinks," the doctor warned.
