In November, some Ukrainian refugees and Britons who host them at home filed a petition with the country’s government. They are asking for support in finding housing as the Homes for Ukraine programme, in which citizens receive about £350 (about $426) for giving Ukrainians a roof over their heads, is coming to an end.

“The number of homeless Ukrainian refugees in England has grown by almost 30 percent in a month, as host families have stopped providing support,” the newspaper notes.

The publication also refers to government data, according to which more than 2,000 families with children from Ukraine are officially homeless in the UK.

Housing Secretary Michael Gove is known to be considering raising payments to host families to try to avert the crisis. The amount of payments can be doubled.
