Novaya Guta border outpost renamed after guard Mikhail Nikolayev who liberated Gomel
The Novaya Guta border outpost of the 19th Border Group under Belarus’ State Border Committee was renamed after Starshina (Sergeant-Major) Mikhail Nikolayev, Full Cavalier of the Order of Glory. During the Great Patriotic War, border guard Mikhail Nikolayev took part in the liberation of Gomel. He has been awarded the Order of Glory 1st, 2nd and 3rd Class for his courage and heroism in the fight against the fascist invaders to liberate Belarus.
The Belarusian leader adopted this decision for strengthening patriotic education among youth, popularising the history, military traditions and service in the border authorities.
