Viktor Lukashenko stressed that these sanctions are unfair. “The present discussion shows that the athletes of Belarus and Russia have the same questions. We feel a slight warming at the international sports level and very much hope that the illegal sanctions will be lifted. Our sportsmen should prepare for the Olympic qualification competitions – that have already begun, and also for the Games. We manage to organise good competitions that enable athletes to get good practice and keep themselves in shape. We will also hold tournaments with the countries that are members of the SCO and BRICS – which is very important," he noted.

The two-day forum in the Russian capital gathered more than 200 athletes, as well as representatives of sports federations to discuss the current problems of the sphere, the situation in the international sports movement, the issues of athletes' education and the possibility of their self-realisation after completing an active career.
