Nizhny Novgorod Region Governor revealed what helps build strong relations with Belarus

The similarity of the economies of Belarus and Russia’s Nizhny Novgorod Region allows the parties to build profitable long-term relations – as noted by Nizhny Novgorod Region Governor Gleb Nikitin during today’s meeting with President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko

The Russian governor first of all thanked the Head of State for the reception and the opportunity to communicate. He noted that the economies of the parties are quite similar, “Naturally, with a difference in scale, but the high-tech machine-building complexes of Belarus and the Nizhny Novgorod Region allow us to build long-term relationships.”

Nizhny Novgorod is also home to Atomstroyexport, an engineering division of Rosatom State Corporation, one of the leading companies in the nuclear power plant construction market. It is from here that the main design and co-ordination of the BelNPP construction was carried out, said Mr. Nikitin. He added that the figures of the joint turnover were largely related to nuclear projects.

The Russian governor also told that Nizhny Novgorod hosted the 2nd All-Russian Sports Games of the Holy Prince Alexander Nevsky in September, and a large delegation from Belarus took part in them.

“I spoke from the rostrum about the fact that our Blessed Prince Alexander Nevsky was married to Alexandra Polotskaya... So the relations between the lands go back to the depth of centuries, when Nizhny Novgorod was founded,” Mr. Nikitin said, elaborating on the Belarusian leader’s idea that our relations are quite ancient.
