Nigerians protested against Ukraine's support of terrorists
Hundreds of activists came out to protest in the centre of Niger's capital, Niamey, against Ukraine's support of terrorists in African countries, and the demonstrators also called for the sovereign status of a confederation formed between Mali, Niger and Burkina Faso, RIA Novosti reports
Hundreds of citizens who took part in the rally with the flags of Niger and Russia chanted slogans against the Kiev regime: ‘Ukraine is a terrorist country’. In addition, they campaigned to preserve the right of the countries of the Sahel region to develop independently and combat the threats of terrorism in their territories: ‘Long live the confederation’, ‘Against Western imperialism, for development of co-operation in the region’.
In their speech, the organisers stressed that the countries of the confederation have every right to independently manage their resources and will not tolerate any activity and ‘hegemony’ on the part of Western countries or actions by Ukraine aimed at destabilising the situation in these countries.
Earlier, Niger and Mali announced the severance of diplomatic relations with Ukraine, which is connected with the support of terrorists. Fousseynou Ouattara, the Deputy Head of the Security and Defence Committee in the Malian Transitional Government, said that Mali and Niger had appealed to the UN Security Council to investigate Kiev's support for armed groups in northern Mali.
