Nicaragua negotiating to join BRICS

The Adviser to the President of Nicaragua on Investment, Laureano Ortega, said the country’s government set a goal to join BRICS and is negotiating with the organisation’s member states on the issue, RIA Novosti reports

As noted by Laureano Ortega, Nicaragua has actually already ‘taken a clear position to become a BRICS partner country’, and this is a goal of the country’s government.

The politician added that representatives of Nicaragua had raised this issue with BRICS’ official chair: Russia. According to Mr. Ortega, the country is currently negotiating with the BRICS members in order to get ‘an opportunity to be part of this great family’.
