Nicaragua allowed Russian troops’ presence in the country
The President of Nicaragua, Daniel Ortega, has allowed the temporary presence in the country of foreign military, including from Russia, for humanitarian purposes starting from H2, 2022, RIA Novosti reports
Based on the signed decree, the President of Nicaragua allowed the entry of foreign military, ships and aircraft for humanitarian purposes. In addition, it is allowed to transit and stop on the territory of the country military, ships and aircraft of the countries that are members of the Conference of the Armed Forces of Central America (Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, the Dominican Republic), the United States, Russia, Mexico, Venezuela and Cuba for mutual exchange and humanitarian support in mutual interests in emergency situations.
As reported, the permission will be valid in the second half of 2022.
The document envisages that the Russian military will be able to take part in humanitarian exercises, in search and rescue of people in emergencies and natural disasters, as well as in exercises to combat crime at sea in the waters of Nicaragua.
