NBC: US to increase number of US troops in Ukraine
The United States intends to increase the number of US troops deployed in Ukraine in order to increase control over the supply of weapons and help in the use of ‘critical’ systems – as stated by unnamed US officials familiar with the situation, RIA Novosti reports
According to NBC, ‘a couple of dozen’ US troops are currently stationed in Ukraine, including a ‘very small’ team that checks that Western ‘weapons reach their intended recipients’.
“US Secretary of Defence [Lloyd] Austin and other military leaders want to expand the mission of control and ensure the presence of specialists in the country to help Ukraine use critical weapons systems, including air defence and anti-drone capabilities,” the channel noted.
According to NBC, the plan being discussed involves sending ‘a small number’ of additional American soldiers to Ukraine.
