NATO increased production of Soviet-style ammunition for Ukraine

Some NATO allies have retained their production capacities and managed to increase manufacturing of Soviet-style spare parts and ammunition for Ukraine – as stated by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, RIA Novosti reports

Mr. Stoltenberg explained this by saying that Ukraine has much Soviet-era artillery at its disposal at present.

“Production [of ammunition] has increased, and NATO members have managed to increase manufacturing of Soviet-era equipment and ammunition in part. This is extremely urgent and necessary, since Ukraine still has a lot of Soviet-era artillery. They need ammunition and spare parts. Many of our allies have retained production facilities," the NATO Secretary General noted.

Along with this, Mr. Stoltenberg said that supplies of alliance-standard weapons to Kiev, including air defence systems, increases the operational compatibility of the NATO and Ukrainian armies.
