Belarus’ NAS exports exceeded $80m in 2024

To ensure commercialisation of the results of sci-tech activities, 12 industrial and 4 agricultural production facilities have been established and are functioning at Belarus’ National Academy of Sciences (NAS). More than 100 production sites, laboratories and other structural divisions produce both for the domestic market and for export. According to NAS Chief Scientific Secretary Vasily Gursky, the academy has achieved a certain record on the export indicator in 2024.

“Last year, Belarus’ NAS exports exceeded $80m,” he said.

According to Mr. Gursky, all the results obtained by Belarusian scientists are of high practical importance and truly impressive. As an example, he cited an electric car developed in 2024 by the NAS United Institute of Mechanical Engineering jointly with BelGee JSC.

“A pilot batch has been produced, and it is planned to organise serial production of an electric vehicle in the future,” the NAS Chief Scientific Secretary emphasised. “In addition, the United Institute of Mechanical Engineering has also developed an innovative tramcar with low-floor bogies in co-operation with BKM Holding. Together with AMKODOR JSC, the United Institute of Mechanical Engineering has developed a single-bucket crawler excavator with an operating weight of 20-25 tonnes. The NAS Institute of Energy jointly with Vityaz JSC has developed an intelligent charging station for electric vehicles. The Optron Instrument Manufacturing Plant has created a remotorisation kit for the electrification of the Minsk D4 motorbike. The NAS Physical-Technical Institute has developed and manufactured a set of equipment for ion-plasma nitriding to strengthen parts, which has been widely implemented here, e.g., at BelAZ. There are also very significant developments in the field of biotechnology. And there are a lot of such examples.
