MP reveals details of preparation for 2024-2025 election campaigns in Belarus

An election period is scheduled for 2024 and 2025 in Belarus, and it will be quiet and calm – as usual, Sergei Klishevich, a member of the Standing Committee on Education, Culture and Science of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly, believes

In his talk with Alfa Radio, the MP has commented on the level of preparations for the election campaigns in 2024 and 2025 from the legislative and legal perspective.

“Regarding the Parliament, we have already adopted all basic laws. These include changes to the Electoral Code, the law On Political Parties (which also affects electoral procedures), and the law On Belarusian People's Congress. The latter is also part of the election campaign, and it is scheduled for H1 2024. In this context, the work has been carried out, and the subordinate regulatory legal acts are being brought into compliance at present. Of course, the practice in the conditions adjusted in connection with the updated Constitution is also very important; I mean elections to local councils and the Parliament here. The election of delegates to the Belarusian People’s Congress is a completely new practice for us. We elected delegates in the past, but it was not a constitutional norm then,” Mr. Klishevich explained.

The MP is sure that Belarus will pass this path without problems – as before: quietly, calmly, but with the understanding that the sights of our neighbours, working at the behest of the United States, will be aimed at creating obstacles for the country.
