MP explained the need to deploy joint Belarusian-Russian grouping of troops

A deputy of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly, Oleg Gaidukevich, commented on the expediency of creating a joint Belarusian-Russian regional grouping of troops

In his talk with Alfa Radio, the expert stressed that – due to the position of Ukraine, which does not want to negotiate with Russia – the conflict will continue for the time being, and possibly will move to a new stage. Any development of events is possible.

“Why does not the Ukrainian government agree to negotiations right now? [These can envisage] stop of the hostilities, launch of talks, a diplomatic path, and Minsk’s agreements – 2. Unfortunately, this will not happen yet, because the Ukrainian government is not independent, and the President [of Belarus] said this [in his interview with NBC]. However, despite everything, Belarus will continue to make peacekeeping efforts and will not allow a blow in the back of the Russian Federation,” Mr. Gaidukevich said.

The MP added, “Belarus will have no mobilisation, so everyone can calm down. Our country has not participated in any conflicts, and it will not do this. We have our own land and country, and we are a reliable ally. No one will ever strike at Russia from Belarus. I can address those criticising the deployment of a joint Belarusian-Russian grouping of forces, saying that this is a very correct step: we will sleep safer. No normal person wants war, but it is necessary to be stronger to prevent it. Therefore, a grouping is being created, the border is being strengthened, and the population is being prepared.”

“Those who talk about the occupation of Belarus have been themselves occupied for a long time. Look at how many thousands of NATO fighters are in Poland and Lithuania. The authorities of these countries are not independent in their decisions," Mr. Gaidukevich stressed.
