“The talks held in the Kremlin with President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, the speech of Belarus’ Head of State at the Federation Council and his meeting with Speaker of the Upper House of Parliament Valentina Matvienko, as well as conversations with the Russian media emphasise the comprehensiveness and versatility of the Belarusian-Russian dialogue," Ms. Mironchik-Ivanova said.

The MP drew attention to the importance of the fact that President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko had been awarded the badge of honour: For Contribution to Development of Parliamentarism – the highest departmental insignia of Russia’s Federation Council.

Ms. Mironchik-Ivanova noted, “The agreement on the meeting by the heads of state in Moscow on May 9th as part of the celebration of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War is not only a tribute to the heroic past of our peoples, but also a symbol of unity in preserving historical truth and countering information challenges. I am convinced that the results of the visit will serve to further integration within the Union State and strengthening of economic and political co-operation.”

The MP stressed, “Belarus and Russia have reaffirmed that they remain reliable allies, ready to jointly ensure sustainable development and security. Such co-ordination is the key to a successful response to any external pressures and strengthening the sovereignty of our countries.”
